Welcome!
Hi there! I’m so happy you’re here.
Mad Mahina began as an idea on the North Shore of Oʻahu, inspired by the natural beauty, slow pace, and simplicity of life in the middle of the Pacific. My creativity was fueled by my surroundings and the lifestyle I was living: grounded, simple, and connected to nature.
After moving back to California, everything changed. Life sped up. The desire to create never left, but it was often quieted by the demands of full-time corporate work. I kept telling myself I’d return to creating when the time was right.
Today, the heart behind it looks a little different. My faith in Jesus is now the foundation of everything I do. Each piece of jewelry is made from ethically sourced or previously loved materials, intentionally reimagined and restored. It’s a reflection of what Christ has done for me in my life—taking what’s been worn or overlooked and renewing it with beauty and new purpose.
Where my inspiration once came from the rhythm of Hawaiʻi, my work now reflects the season I’m in: one of growth, transformation, and deeper faith.
As for the name, Mad Mahina is deeply personal. “Mad” comes from my name, Maddy, and “Mahina” is my beautiful niece’s middle name. It means moon in Hawaiian, which feels like a beautiful connection to the islands where this journey first began. The name represents the things I value most: family, faith, and finding beauty in creation.
In this new season, I am grateful to creating one-of-a-kind, sustainable jewelry, and hopefully more along the way. No mass production—just intentional pieces.
Thank you for being here and for supporting this journey of restoration, creativity, and faith.
With love,
Maddy Mitchell
